Birthday Cake Ninja Creami (High-Protein Ice Cream Recipe)

Perhaps (like me before I perfected this recipe) you have purchased the Ninja Creami, but are still searching for that perfect recipe for it. Good news: I have finally cracked the code with this High-Protein Birthday Cake Ninja Creami recipe! It requires no pre-blending, has thick, creamy texture, and doesn’t use any granulated sweetener, pudding mix, or xanthan gum! It also has around 300 calories and over 25 grams of protein, making it an excellent choice for that after-dinner sweet tooth (or any time of day, honestly).

I used to use an entire protein shake, but I found that this combo of protein shake, milk, and a little coffee creamer yields a thick, tasty result with the added bonus of making my Oikos shake stash last longer! This is a Ninja Creami recipe I actually make on repeat, and I have tried a ton of them!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Quick and easy prep
  • High-Protein
  • Macro-Friendly
  • Creamy and delicious
  • No pudding mix, xanthan gum, artificial colors, or granulated sweetener

Products Used in This Recipe:

Ingredients

4 oz Oikos Vanilla Protein Shake

4 – 6 oz milk (I used whole milk)

½ serving vanilla whey protein

1 tbsp birthday cake creamer (I used Starbucks Cake Pop creamer)

Pinch of salt

5 – 15 drops vanilla creme Sweet Drops or extra sweetener of choice, to taste

Mix-ins:

3 drops Dolce Flav cake batter flavoring

1 tsp sprinkles and/or 1 birthday cake cookie (I used 1 Cybele’s Free to Eat Confetti cookie)

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except mix-ins in the Ninja Creami canister and blend with an immersion blender until smooth (or use a milk frother; I like this one). Freeze on a flat surface for about 24 hours.
  2. After it is fully frozen, remove canister from the freezer and run it under hot water for 60 seconds.
  3. Place in NinjaCreami and run on Lite Ice Cream. Check and hit respin if it still looks crumbly. Repeat if still super crumbly after 2nd respin (I usually only need one respin).
  4. Remove canister from machine and, using a plastic knife (metal will scratch and ruin the canister), scrape down the sides until you no longer see frozen residue in the canister.
  5. Add your mix ins to the middle and insert the canister into the machine again. Run on “mix-in.”
  6. Enjoy! You should have a perfect, sweet, and creamy birthday cake ice cream.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Mine had icy chunks, how can I prevent that?

A: Make sure you thoroughly scrape down the sides after the last respin but before the mix-in cycle. Take the tub out so you can see better, and use a plastic knife so you don’t scratch the canister. It also helps to use the knife to stab around the bottom of the canister to break up any ice down there. And don’t skip running it under hot water for 60 seconds, which helps loosen the ice beforehand.

Q: Can this be made vegan or dairy-free?

A: You absolutely can try it with a vegan/dairy-free protein shake, a plant-based milk, vegan protein powder, and a plant-based creamer. Let me know how it turns out for you!

Q: Is this gluten-free?

A: Yes; everything, including the mix-ins, is naturally gluten-free.

Q: Can I use other protein shakes, like Fairlife or Core Power?

A: Yes, pretty much anything should work! You may just need to adjust the sweetness.
