4-Ingredient High Protein Donuts (Gluten-Free)

Dying for a donut but can’t eat gluten? These easy protein donuts have a satisfying soft yet chewy texture and pack over 20 grams of protein. They require only four ingredients and take just a few minutes to make!

I am not currently gluten-free; however, I have eliminated it for health reasons in the past. So I know firsthand how hard it can be to find satisfying treats that suit your needs! This recipe is so simple and a must-try for anyone who wants a fun gluten-free breakfast (or lunch…no judgments here) or high-protein treat.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Gluten free
  • High protein
  • Low sugar
  • Quick and easy
  • 4 ingredients
  • Microwave recipe

Ingredients

Yields a single serving of four donuts.

Directions

1. In a large cereal bowl or small mixing bowl, combine the pancake mix, yogurt, and sweetener.

2. Once the mixture starts to come together, knead with your hands until it forms a thick, smooth dough and all the little bits of dough are incorporated.

3. Distribute into four cavities of a microwave-safe donut pan (like this one).

4. Microwave for about 3 minutes or until dough no longer looks wet and springs back when touched.

5. Chill in the freezer for about 3 minutes, remove from pan and frost with frosting or spread. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I make these dairy free?

A: Absolutely! Just swap any dairy-free yogurt for the Greek yogurt. Applesauce will also work. Additionally, use a dairy-free frosting or spread.

Q: Can I bake these instead of microwaving?

A: While you technically can, I don’t recommend it for this recipe. The texture turns out kind of weird and unpleasant in the oven.

Q: Will other gluten-free pancake mixes work?

A: Yes! You can try any gluten-free pancake mix. Adjust the yogurt as needed; you want a thick, grabbable dough.
